EDUCATION CENTER HOURS:
Tifft Nature Preserve offers a variety of hands-on Girl Scout Badge Programs and Scouts BSA Programs throughout the year utilizing our Darling Environmental Education Center and beautiful nature trails.
For more program variety, please see our School and Group programs. Pre-registration and pre-payment required for all programs by the 15th of the prior month.
Girl Scout Programs
All programs fulfill badge requirements and include a guided outdoor experience: please dress for the weather and to walk on trails (no sandals). Physical badges are not included in the registration fee.

Daises – Outdoor Art Maker

Use the colors and sounds of nature to create art of your own while sharing the different ways to Leave No Trace and protect wildlife outdoors.
Brownies – Wow Journey
Oct. 22, 2023 and May 11 and June 1, 2024 | 1-4pm | $15
Discover how to love, save, and share the “wonders of water” while investigating aquatic habitats, watersheds, and the wildlife within.
Juniors – Get Moving Journey
Nov. 4 and Dec. 3, 2023 and Mar. 10, 2024 | 1-4pm | $15
Energize your understanding of the Earth’s energy and how we use, misuse, and can protect this essential resource in our daily lives.
Cadettes – Breathe Journey
Nov. 5, 2023 and Apr. 27, 2024 | 1-4pm | $15
Take a deep breath and use ALL your senses to become aware of air quality issues in our region and
around the world as we experiment with wind, fragrances, and pollution.
Seniors – Sow What Journey

Get down to the roots of our food “network” to explore the relationships between what we eat, and the land, water, air, and energy use around us.

Scouts BSA Programs
All programs fulfill most, but not all badge requirements. Please review required pre-requisites for each badge.
All programs include a guided outdoor experience: please dress for the weather and to walk on trails (no sandals). For five-hour programs, a 30 minute indoor break will be provided – please bring your own lunch. Please bring your signed blue card on the day of program. Physical badges are not included in the registration fee. Inclement weather may affect what requirements are covered during the program.

Investigate a diversity of local tree species, the life cycle of a forest, and the vital part trees play in our own existence.
December 9, 2023 | 11am-4pm | $30
Learn the important points of staying alive in survival situation such as fire building, signaling, and shelter building.
Mammal Merit Badge
January 27, 2024 |1-4pm | $15
Examine WNY mammal pelts and skulls, discuss real world mammal population issues and search for mammal evidence within the Preserve.
March 16, 2024 | 11am-4pm | $30
Discover the history and science of studying the environment, using observation and experimentation in five areas of study such as ecology, pollution, and conservation. (Eagle required badge)
April 20, 2024 | 11am-4pm | $30
Use binoculars, a field guide, an app, and hands-on activities to explore a few of the over 200 species observed at Tifft Nature Preserve.
May 18, 2024 | 11am-4pm | $30
Delve into the details of food chains, protected species, and five different animal categories including birds, mammals, fish, reptiles and amphibians.
