Girl Scout Programs

Individual troops may register for a private badge workshop at a mutually agreed upon date and time (payment for a minimum of 8 Scouts required) or they may select from Tifft Nature Preserve’s 2022-2023 calendar of Girl Scout Programs (see Flyer or Event Calendar for dates). Scouts BSA Programs

Tifft Nature Preserve offers a variety of hands-on Scouts BSA programs throughout the year utilizing our Darling Environmental Education Center and beautiful nature trails. All programs include a guide outdoor experience: press dress for the weather. Badges are not included in the registration fee. Please contact Tifft Nature Preserve for additional prerequisite requirement information pertaining to each Merit Badge.
To register for a date below please call Tifft Nature Preserve at 716.825.6397 or email tifftreservations@sciencebuff.org. Pre-registration and pre-payment required for all programs by the 15th of the prior month.
Available Scouts BSA Programs
Nature Merit Badge
October 22 | 1-4 pm | $15
Delve into the details of food chains, protected species, and five different fields including birds, mammals, fish, reptiles and amphibians.
Wilderness Survival Merit Badge
December 10 | 1-4 pm | $15
Learn the important points of staying alive in a survival situation such as fire building, signaling, and shelter building.
Mammal Merit Badge
January 28 | 1-4 pm | $15
Explore WNY mammal pelts and skulls, discuss real world mammal population issues and search for mammal evidence in the Preserve.
Forestry Merit Badge
March 18 | 1-4 pm | $15
Investigate a diversity of local tree species, the life cycle of a forest, and the vital part trees play in our own existence.
Bird Study Merit Badge
May 13 | 1-4 pm | $15
Use binoculars, a field guide, and hands-on activities to explore a few of the over 200 bird species observed at Tifft Nature Preserve.
