SciNight: Early Accounts of Birds on the Niagara

May 16, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

What was “birding” like 300 years ago in the Niagara Region? What did “birders” of long ago witness and how did they share their sightings with others? Guest speaker and local birder Andrew Gaerte will share his expertise of the 18th century in a presentation of the written, pictorial, and archeological remains by early naturalists, military officers, and explorers of this region and their amazement of the multitudes of the birds seen here. Afterwards, step back in time, and create an 18th century-style nature notebook of your own. All materials provided.
